The Clan Chattan Association

The historical Clan Chattan, dating from the 13th century, was a Confederation of clans which came together for mutual security. Its principal clans are:
Mackintosh; MacGillivray; Farquharson; Macpherson; MacBean; Davidson; Shaw; MacThomas; MacPhail; Macleans of Dochgarroch; MacQueens in Strathdearn; MacIntyres in Badenoch

John Mackintosh of Mackintosh is President and the following Clans are represented on the Council of the Clan Chattan Association by Vice Presidents who are chiefs of their respective clans.

Capt A A C Farquharson of Invercauld; James McBain of McBain; Hon Sir William Macpherson of Cluny; Andrew MacThomas of Finegard; John Shaw of Tordarroch

The aims of the Association, which was founded in 1933, are:

Members from around the world gather on the first weekend in August each year for the AGM at Inverness and The Highland Field Sports Fair at Moy Hall, seat of the Mackintosh of Mackintosh.

The annual Journal, highly regarded as one of the best of its kind, contains articles relating to the Confederation, individual clans, clan country and clan members.

Membership costs are:

Annual - GBP 8 or US$ 14 (includes entrance fee of GBP 3 or US$ 5)
Five Year - GBP 25 or US$ 45
Life - GBP 150 or US$ 270
