General Info:
Clan Craig Association of America is a "Family Society" at present, annual dues are $18, which includes a subscription to our quarterly newsletter "CLAN CRAIG CONNECTIONS." the dues are pro-rated at $1.50 per month in the first year.

We are proceeding to incorporate as a non profit corporation this year. Our goals are to further Scottish Tradition and Heritage, and assist in genealogical research. * We would like to someday establish a scholarship fund or some other kind of educational activity.

We are actively recruiting members and hope to establish good regional chapters all over the country. Anyone interested in doing that please contact Chief Michael Craig - mcraig@seatac.net.

We are a member of the "Council of Scottish Clans and Associations," and encourage participation in local Highland Games.

Membership now stands at over 100, and we are growing rapidly.

Crest & Badge descriptions:
The Craig Coat of Arms needs three ingredients to constitute it; metal, colors and fur: silver (or the color white) signifies serenity and nobility; the fur, ermine, depicts dignity and nobility; and the dark band across the middle represents repentance or vengeance. The most ancient version has been found in the Armorer's Book.

The Craig crest, which includes a mounted horseman carrying a broken lance, is representative of a group of 'broken men' from other clans who had sought, and were granted, the protection of the clan.

The Craig tartans, of which there are two, developed from two different sources. One as the result of the Earl of Mar allowing the Craigs to add the color red to his own black and white tartan. The other traditional one was formulated from the colors of rocks, (Crag) from which the name Craig originated, hence the colors gray, green, black, yellow, and orange on the tartan.

* For those with a serious genealogical interest, we have a mutual assistance agreement with Ann Burton who operates, "Craig-Links" an enterprise dedicated to Craig family genealogy. She has an enormous collection of family records, she estimates it at over 1/2 ton of paper. Her address is:
