The popularity of music from Canada's East Coast has been rising in leaps and bounds, making success inevitable for the new group. They have shred some of the region's largest stages since coming together in March of 1995.
Glen Gordon contributes as lead vocalist for the group. His talent is also heard on the acoustic guitar.
Kevin Brennan contributes his talent on both electric and acoustic guitars. His unique guitar stylings are heard in every song, adding an on-stage performance that is pure energy.
Dane Grant wins the crowd over with his performance on the Highland bagpipes and tin whistle. He has played in the past with reputable pipe bands such as the Halifax Police Grade 1 Pipe Band and Parliament Hill Guard Band.
Randy MacDonald boasts 12 years of experience as a drummer. He is a multi-percussionist and also adds to many songs on the bodhran drum.
David Hoare can be heard strumming the deep chords of the bass guitar. His playing ability adds incredible depth to the overall sound MacKeel creates.
Award winning electric and acoustic fiddler, Fleur Mainville, plays with a style that has impressed some of Cape Breton's most prominent fiddlers. Her ability has allowed her to perform with the likes of Jerry Holland and Buddy MacMaster. All members contribute vocally, whether it's the group backing up Glen, or Dane taking over lead on Thaing i-A'nall, a Gaelic song he wrote about his love of the bagpipes.
Hailing from Pictou County, Nova Scotia, MacKeel have all been friends since childhood. Their show is evidence of that, showing a strong unity on-stage. This kilted bunch of party seekers deliver an instant celebration of remarkable music, practical jokes, and good Maritime fun, all with great energy; and energy they should have, considering the average age among them is 23. Whether it's a club in Halifax or a festival in Charlottetown, their live performances continue to bring down the house at every show.
