Society Crest (11623 bytes) HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

The Fredericton Society of Saint Andrew was founded on Saint Andrew's Night, Wednesday, November 30, 1825. The meeting at which the Society was organized, took place at the Barrister's Inn, which is believed to have been located in the old Legislative Building, which stood at the corner of Queen street and Chancery Lane, near where the Playhouse is located today.

The Society was incorporated by Chapter 97 of the Acts of Assembly, 1845, as noted from the records:
