The Clan Marjoribanks

Clan Contacts

The Marjoribanks Family was organized in Edinburgh in 1988 for the purpose of promoting friendship and closer acquaintance among members and to collect and preserve historical, and genealogical knowledge of the family.

Membership is open to persons bearing the name Marjoribanks or one of its many variations -- Marchbanks, Marshbanks, Marchbank, Banks -- and to anyone of whatever name who professes an interest in the purposes of The Marjoribanks Family..

The Marjoribankses are a Family and not a Clan, although they have historical associations with Clan Johnstone and, with the concurrence of the Earl of Annandale and Hartfell, chief of the Johnstones, wear the Johnstone tartan.

The Family meets at annual Gatherings, alternating between Britain and North America and publishes a newsletter, The Marjoribanks Letter, and an historical and genealogical journal. Andrew Marjoribanks of that Ilk is the chief and hereditary head of the family.
