The Dallas/Fort Worth area in Region VII is the setting for the year 2000 Annual General Meeting to be held on June 2 - 4. The CSSA Board Meeting will be held on Friday June 2nd at the Holiday Inn DFW Airport West. Activities for spouses and children are numerous, including, but not limited to Grapevine Mills Mall, Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor, Texas Motor Speedway (NASCAR), Texas Stadium (Dallas Cowboys), Ballpark in Arlington (Texas Rangers), the Kennedy Memorial and the Stockyards.

On Friday evening President Robert Laird will host a reception for all members of CSSA at 7:00pm. This is an informal forum designed to give the general membership a chance to meet and talk with the officers of our society.

The Annual General Meeting and Banquet is on Saturday June 3rd beginning with a Social Hour at 6:00pm, followed by dinner at 7:00pm and the AGM immediately afterwards. The Dinner will consist of either 'Petite Filet & Shrimp' (A tender petite filet mignon with wild mushroom sauce and three jumbo grilled lemon peppered shrimp) or 'Stuffed Chicken Normandy' (Roasted chicken breast stuffed with apples, almonds & raisins with a port wine sauce) both include a Salad, Fresh Seasonal Vegetables, Potato, Rice or Pasta, Rolls and Butter, Beverage and Dessert. There is also a Vegetable Plate available for those who wish it.

The 14th Annual Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games will be held at Maverick Stadium on the campus of The University of Texas at Arlington on the same weekend. A schedule of events has not been released as of this writing, but typically a genealogy seminar is held on Friday with a guest speaker of note. If anyone is interested in arriving early for the seminar, contact Fred Stewart for more information. On Friday night beginning at 8:00pm is the Ceilidh, don’t miss this one. Last years entertainment included Alex Beaton, Alasdair Fraser, Seven Nations, bROthER, Brian MacNeill, Clandestine, Bad Haggis, and many others. Saturday and Sunday are very full days with 4 large tents set up in different areas and continuous entertainment. In addition to the excellent music, there is a Scotch Whisky Seminar and Tasting, Athletic Events both professional and amateur, Celtic homebrew competition, Celtic Harp, Highland Dancing, Drumming, Piping, and Educational seminars and workshops, and all the vendors and Clan tents. Sunday evening at 7:30pm is the Grande Finale. Show up early, its normally standing room only.
