Climate

Scotland's northern latitude in line with Norway, Labrador and Moscow should make it much colder than it is, but the Gulf Stream has a warming effect. Often the best weather is found in May and September. These are also the months that the north-west of Scotland is relativley midge free. For the rest of the summer months, these tiny, biting insects can cause some discomfort if you are by water, in wooded areas or on the hills.

Attention visitors: Tartans.com is back. Please note that this is a snapshot of the site as it existed nearly 20 years ago and you may encounter broken links; we are still combing through the site and correcting those as we find them. Please also note that some sections are currently not functional, primarily the discussion forums/clan chat boards.
